Of all the low fat smoothie recipes I have come across, the 3 most commonly used ingredients are bananas, orange juice, and strawberries. If you have recently started working out and are experiencing muscle cramps, this combination will help you reduce those thanks to the high levels of potassium. It also makes a great flavor combination and is ideal for covering the taste of supplements (some protein powders don’t blend well and have a bad after taste – more on that later).

You will need:

  • 1 whole banana (yep, the WHOLE banana)
  • Frozen strawberries
  • Orange juice
  • Fresh oranges (optional, but a great way to boost vitamin C and to keep that immune system strong)
  • Non-fat yogurt (preferably frozen)
  • Protein powder (optional – if you use protein powder just use half the banana… and eat the other half!)

This delicious low fat smoothie has a very smooth texture thanks to the banana and the yogurt. It’s also another great smoothie to start the day with or to have after an early morning workout. Enjoy!
